The most adorable single from their 2018 album, 'Koleksi Dendangan Untuk Masa Hadapan', gets an equally quirky music video!
Directed by Ze Spooky, lead vocalist of Spooky Wet Dreams, (who also directed LUST's 21st Century Spy and Couple's upcoming music video for 'Malam Minggu'), with art direction from Kekabumi, the music video embodies this charm with retro nostalgia filled with Teko ads, Brady Bunch, and other 60s visual references.
In a statement, Ze said that "the song was written as a tribute to his parents and his wife and comic artist Lizzie Zany. Ze claimed that making tea was his mother’s love language, which coincidentally, picked up by his wife."
Before the music video, 'Sayang' successfully received over 70,000 plays without any extensive promotion from the band
The song is also cheekily raunchy (all halal since it's about a marriage lol) and carries the same element of old Malay pop classics found sprinkled across the tracklist of Koleksi Dendangan. Listen to the album here:
Irama Propaganda was considered the best Malaysian single of 2018 by the Daily Seni (compiled by yours truly)
